Whitman's Music as a Means of Expression In his verses, Walt Whitman eradicates divisions of individual entities while simultaneously celebrating their unique characteristics. All components of the universe are united in a metaphysical intercourse, and yet, are assigned very distinct qualities so as to keep their identities intact. Often times, Whitman demonstrates these conceptions through elements of song. ââ¬Å"Walt Whitman caroled throughout his verse. For the Bard of Democracy, as America came to call our great poet, music was a central metaphor in his life and work, both as a mindset and as a practical reality.â⬠(Hampson) His musical poetry lyrically encompasses themes of social equality. Whitman enterprises a communion of persons while using the singer as a poet, lover, typical citizen, bard and a celebrator of the self to express such notions. Whitman discovers music in the daily lives of ordinary individuals and expresses it within his poetry. Especially in respect to the poems ââ¬Å"Song of Myself,â⬠ââ¬Å"I Sing the Body Electric,â⬠and ââ¬Å"I Hear America Singing,â⬠Walt Whitman incorporates music as a vehicle to illustrate democratization. Whitman was a self educated New Yorker who began his literary career by satiating himself with classical reading and appreciating nature. After leaving school, Whitman held a great variety of jobs including a printers apprentice and editing several periodicals. His first independent publication was Leaves of Grass; a compilation of various untitled poems. Initially, he was met with limited success or recognition (with the exception of a satisfied Ralph Waldo Emerson). His second edition was far more warmly welcomed. During the Civil War, Whitman offered his services to care for soldiers ... ... a democratic understanding of society. Whitman deems all persons equally and interprets their existence as pieces of music. In instances where the average individual would find no value, Whitman depicts unexplored realms of appreciation. All members of society are conveyed as agents of music. Their roleââ¬â¢s are regarded as beautiful contributions to society by defining them with instrumental undertones. Whitmanââ¬â¢s verses are written with such musical style and context, that they are often times the inspiration for musical compositions (including the likes of Vaughn Williams). In his pieces, Whitman honors the seemingly inferior facets of society, discounting any hierarchy and rather, celebrating all members equally. To effectively portray Whitmanââ¬â¢s democratic mentality, he delivers his message by expressing his subjects as instruments in a grand societal composition.

Confidentiality: Childhood and Sensitive Information Essay
the principles and boundaries of confidentiality are to do with safeguarding children and young people. The principle ââ¬â or main reason for having confidentiality in settings is to maintain positive, supportive, respectful relationships with children and young people that recognises each individualââ¬â¢s right to privacy, their right to protection and their right to free expression. This could be done by finding quiet less public areas for discussing information, ensuring information given within a setting isnââ¬â¢t repeated outside of the setting for less professional reasons, everyone connected with a setting understands how sharing information relating to safeguarding is valued and welcomed. A boundary of confidentiality is that it isnââ¬â¢t always appropriate/safe to keep information confidential where there may be a risk of harm to a child or young person. Confidentiality is essential in schools. The same rules of confidentiality apply whether you are employed by the school or you are working as a volunteer. You may have been told sensitive information about a child because it helps you to carry out your role, for example, about their health or particular needs. This is sensitive information and should never be a topic for discussion in the staff room or with other parents. As a teaching or learning support assistant, you may find that parents approach you to tell you personal or sensitive information. You must let them know that you would need to share it with your manager or supervisor. Information can be passed on without permission when a child is at risk of abuse or harm. However, the information should only be passed to specific people who ââ¬Ëneed to knowââ¬â¢. They can then take action and provide support to protect the child. If you are in doubt, you should always ask for advice. Information sharing In some circumstances, when a child may be at risk of significant harm, information can be shared without consent with professionals who need to know. Failure to share information has been highlighted in a number of serious child abuse cases. Sharing information ensures that problems are identified early and action is taken when children are thought to be at risk of abuse. There will be systems within your school on ways that this is done. You should always ask for advice before sharing information. and from the Collins SCH 21 chapter ââ¬â and title on amazon It is best to treat everything you learn about children and their families in your workplace as confidential information; it is advisable to check with your supervisor before you pass on confidential information. Similarly, it is always best to tell your supervisor if you receive any information that concerns you. If someone wants to tell you something ââ¬Ëin confidenceââ¬â¢, you should say that you may not be able to keep the information to yourself because part of your job involves safeguarding childrenââ¬â¢s welfare. It is then up to the person to decide whether to tell you or not.

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost In Robert Frosts The Road Not Taken, (reprinted in Laurence Perrine and Thomas R. Arp, Sound and Senses, 8th ed. [San Diego: Harcourt, 1992] 23) the speaker stands in the woods, considering a fork in the road. Both ways are equally worn, and equally overlaid with un-trodden leaves. The speaker chooses one, telling himself that he will take the other another day. Yet he knows it is unlikely that he will have the opportunity to do so. And he admits that someday in the future he will recreate the scene with a slight twist: he will claim that he took the less-traveled road. The whole poem is an extended metaphor, where Frost describes a path in the woods that is directly comparable to a majorâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Frost presents to the reader a mans decision, at a turning point in his life, symbolized by two roads diverged in a yellow wood. In the first line, Frost introduces the elements of his primary metaphor: the diverging roads. The speaker expresses his regret that [he] could not travel both (line 2). The choice is not easily made since long I stood (line 3) before coming to a decision. In an attempt to make a choice, the traveler examines the path as far as [he] could (line 4), but his vision is limited because the path bends and is covered in the undergrowth (line 5). Thus, indicating that although he would have liked to acquire more information, he is prevented from doing so because of the nature of his environment. In lines 6-8, the speaker is still unable to decide between the two paths since the other, [is] just as fair (line 6). He indicates that the second path is a more attractive choice since it was grassy and wanted wear (line 8). Nevertheless, by the end of the stanza, he remains ambivalent, even after comparing the two paths, for each was really about the same (line 10). Neither path has been t raveled lately. In the third stanza, the speaker makes his decision, trying to persuade himself that he will eventually come back (line 15) to satisfy his desire and curiosity to travel both paths.
